5 things to do to be happier every day

In today’s materialist world, money means happiness. It helps, A LOT don’t get me wrong, but I’m one of those who truly believe happiness is a lifestyle, a state of mind, a living organism we need to take care of every day to make it grow and live longer.

One of the best feelings in the world is feeling happy not because of someone or something but because of yourself. Here are some key ways to nurture your happiness.

Be grateful

Focus on what you have rather than constantly highlighting what is missing in your life. Enjoying the little things is key to be able to appreciate even rainy days.

People who practice gratitude by taking time to notice and reflect upon the things they are thankful for, experience more positive emotions, feel more alive, express more compassion and kindness.

Walk the Walk

Wishing to be happier is a thing, taking responsibilities to make it so, is another. Don’t ask others to guide your footsteps if you’re not willing to move your feet. Happiness will come to you when it comes from you. There is no secret, everything you want, you have to work on to deserve it.

Nothing would be worthwhile if it was too easy to reach, right?

Learn something new

Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. Be curious about what is around you and make the most of every opportunity you find to improve yourself by opening your mind. Doing that widely and regularly sharpens your mind and broadens your perspective. It helps you understand and appreciate the intricacies of life a lot more.

Improve your skills or find out more about your passion by reading books, listening to podcasts or going to conferences.

Visualise

Start looking forward to something. Make plans for what you want, what you wish for and make things happen. Having an idea about where you are going to is the best way to keep this energy inside you, to help you carry on even if the road there is not a short or quiet one.

Be one step ahead

If you want to give yourself a head start on the rest of the world, then you must become an early riser. The large number of happy and successful people who are, proves this sleep routine works.

As I said in my previous article, waking up even one hour early than usual every day will make you save 30 hours in a month. Can you imagine all things you could do with these 30 hours more than others who don’t? It will give you the time to work out, meditate, eat, read, but also, plan ahead. Those who think through and plan their days ahead of time set themselves up for true happiness and success.

Our everyday life consists of choices, some people worry that wanting to be happier is a selfish goal but what many of us forget is that we get to choose how we want to feel. Being happy is the least selfish thing you can allow to yourself to be.
