5 ways to become an early bird

“One key to success is to have lunch at the time of day most people have breakfast.“
Robert Brault

Have you ever thought that your day could be better if you only started it before everyone else? Have you ever said that you didn’t have time in your day to do what you wanted to do?

I believe that waking up at least an hour earlier than usual could make a huge impact to your life. Just one hour earlier every day means 30 hours gained in a month. Imagine all the opportunities you could have just by starting your day one hour before your current alarm.

I know that some people don’t like mornings and find it difficult not to snooze the alarm at least twice. But here are some steps you can add to your daily routine in order to help you become an early bird. Because early birds are made, not born, so you can do it!

Have a reason to wake up

Sounds obvious but most of us forget to think about what tomorrow will bring. Is there something that excites you and makes you look forward to the day? Find anything that can give you a reason to wake up tomorrow. We ALWAYS have a reason to look forward to tomorrow, if you don’t think so, then you aren’t looking hard enough. Life is full of things to be excited about.

Once you found it, your will to live your daily life will be greater than your will to press the snooze button.

Create a To-Do list for the day

Having a to-do list is once again something simple but we can easily forget to put down on paper all the things we need to do throughout the day. Doing it will allow you to make your thoughts organised, you will feel more relaxed to know what tomorrow will look like and most importantly, you will plan what you are going to do first thing when you wake up.

Having an overall plan of your day will make your day easier and more manageable than you think, which will push you to wake up.

Find an alarm that doesn’t turn you into a Devil

Why do we all insist on torturing ourselves with the same sort of alarm each morning? Keep in mind that the first thing you do in the morning will impact the rest of your whole day, so please make sure to make the first thing you hear the most pleasant.

Don’t be focused on finding the ultimate, heavy song you’ll be listening to all day, maybe just the sound of the sea could make your mornings more relaxing.

Keep your mornings pressure-free

We’ve already heard that working out early in the morning is good for you. I also believe it is and I try to fit the most I can into mine. But I understand sometimes we are not just made for that. There are so many way to make your mornings pressure-free like meditation, a long and nice walk, yoga or even swimming. They are all amazing ways to start your day.

Listen to your body

Last but not least, listen to yourself, listen to your body. Being an early bird starts the night before, so if for some reason, you are tired at 9pm whereas you usually go to bed at 10:30pm, you don’t have to wait 1:30hours to go to bed, go now! There is a reason why you are tired earlier than usual. Don’t avoid it, your body needs to recover your body and this will help you become an early bird.

Don’t stick to your routine, if you feel like you need to switch off earlier, go for it. Your body and your mind will thank you tomorrow.

Full love – JG
